Candy Cane Pancakes

If you need something really cute to give your friends before Christmas this may just be the way to go.  This Mason jar goes far beyond the delightful red it's painted. I show you how to fill the jar to make it feel like a candy cane but will eventually taste like a pancake. The yummy pancake mix that it is stuffed with would make a delightful end to the perfect Christmas morning.  I a going to give this craft a "duo" because the paint prep might be a tad bit hard and if you need a full definition look to the right hand side bar.

What You Need:

  • Red Paint
  • Paint Brush
  • Painters tape
  • Mason Jar with lid
  • Paint holder (a plastic plate or cup)
  • Pancake mix ( this can either be store bought or I fold a this website that show you how to make your own pancake mix if that's the direction you want to go)

How To:

1.) Take your painters tape and tape the jar at a diagonal to form the stripes you see on a candy cane.

2.) Take out your red paint and paint were there is no tape (aka the clear space).

3.) Repeat step two all the way around the jar and then do a second coat.

4.) Let the paint dry and then diagonally peel all of the tape off.

This is what you should have at this point.

5.) Fill your jar up with the pancake mix.

6.) Put the lid on your Mason jar.

6.) Make a tag that says "Candy Cane Pancake: Just Add" and then list the things they have to add to the mix.

7.) Find a friend to give your gift to!
