Clay Christmas Tree

When you are looking for the perfect little trinket to stuff your stockings or just to add a Christmas spirit to the top of your Christmas packages.  This would be the perfect craft for you.  I will take you through all the steps it takes to make these adorable Christmas tree key chains.  So let's get started.  Oh and by the way I am ratting this craft as "duo" for the definition of this look to the right hand side bar.

What You Need:

  • Yellow bake-able clay
  • Green bake-able clay
  • Brown bake-able clay
  • Two or three other colors of bake-able clay for the ornaments
  • Wire
  • Wire cutter
  • Glaze
  • Paint Brush
  • Oven
  • Work surface (anything from a paper plate to a clay mat)
  • Knife
  • Key Chain Loop

How To:

1.) Cut off a piece of green clay.

2.) Play with the clay until it is workable.

3.) Roll the clay into a ball.

4.) Place the clay on your work surface and use your finger to roll one side of the ball to a point.

5.) Cut of the bottom half so that you don't have the rounded edge.

5.) Cut off a small piece of yellow clay and play with it.

6.) Roll the piece of clay into a little ball and place it on top of the tree ( if you want you can try to make it into a star using the knife).

7.) Cut off a piece of brown clay and then play with it.

8.) Roll out the brown clay until it forms a nice stump.

9.) Place the stump on the bottom of your tree.

10.) Take your ornament clay and form little balls out of them.

11.) Place the ornaments onto the tree.

12.) Take your wire out and roll it up into a little ball.

13.) Stick the wire through your tree.

14.) Form a loop at the top of the tree.

15.) Bake your clay according to the directions on the package.

16.) Take and glaze your tree and then put the loop on it.

And now you have a tree!
