St. Patties Day Book Mark

Every kid likes to do a craft, but not every parent has the time to come up with something creative to make.  With St. Patrick's day coming up it is a great chance for kids to create something and for the parents I am making it even easier with this simple duct tape bookmark.  The bookmark will not only be a fun craft for the kids to do, but it can get them excited about reading.  Even though this is a simple craft parents should be around when younger kids are making this because it uses sharp utensils.  I hope that this green duct tape bookmark changes St. Patrick's  day into a crafty day for all!

This is rated Duo so anyone should be able to try it. Check out the side bar to see a full definition of this rating!

Materials:

How to:

1.) Cut a strip of green tape it does not have to be very long.  Once the strip is cut draw the outline of a hat on the tape with a permanent marker.

2.) Cut on the inside of the marker lines, so that you can't see them.  In this step I would use  an exacto knife but you could use a scissors.

3.) Cut a small black strip the length of the duct tape and the width about a 1/4 of an inch.

4.) Cut off the ends so that it lines up with the bottom of the hat's base.

5.) Line the hat's base up and the brim then place the black stripe on top of the gap.

6.) Cut out a small box out of yellow just a little wider than the black piece on the hat.

7.) Cut out a box from inside to box you just cut.  This box should be slightly smaller than the black strip.

8.) Place the yellow piece in the middle of the black strip.

9.)  Place the hat aside and grab your black duct tape.  Cut a piece of black tape. Take a permanent marker and draw a black pot on the tape. Cut around the lines that you just drew.

10.) Cut out a box of yellow tape that almost touches either edge of the pot. Take the marker and draw out coins.

11.) Cut out around the coin and add any marker touch up's as needed.

12.) Add some yellow strips to make the coins glow if you want.

13.) Finished decorations!

14.) Cut out three pieces of tape ( color is your choice) making them about 7.5 inches long each.

15.) Place one piece of tape over the other so that you have one piece.

16.) Take the last piece of tape and fold it over on itself on one of the sides, also cut off any excess tape around the edges.

17.) Carefully take your hat off the cutting board and place it on one end of the bookmark.

18.) Take the pot of gold and carefully place it at the other end of the bookmark.

19.) This is what the bookmark should look like.  Now you have a double sided bookmark!

20.) To add something else to the bookmark you could write something in marker on the tape. If you write anything on the tape make sure to cover it with clear tape.

21.) Dig in to a new book!

P.S. This is just an example bookmark, so feel free to make it your own work of art!
