Wine Cork Jewelry

The other day I was at a garage sale when I saw bags of wine corks.  They were only $0.25 each, and I had seen lots of cool projects on Pinterest that used wine corks.  So I bought a few and headed home to start this project.  I know that most of you don't have just tons of wine corks laying around your house, and most garage sales don't have wine corks, but JoAnn Fabrics sells them.  They're spendy, but I think it's worth it!

I rated these "eh".  To see our rating definition look at the right sidebar.

Materials:

  • Wine corks (if you are just planning on making one set of earrings and one necklace, you only need one... although it's probably a good idea to have a few extra just in case.)
  • Stamps
  • Colorful ink pads
  • Earring making set
  • Wire
  • Chain for necklace
How to....

1.  Cut the cork into thin slices.  They should be thick enough that you can screw wire into them.  For a tip on how to cut wine corks, you can go to our How To Cut Wine Corks tutorial.
2.  Now use stamps and ink to create colorful designs on the pieces.
3.  Take some wire and twist it to make a little hole like you would see on a charm (see picture).  Do this two other times.
4.  Screw the wire into three different corks pieces to make three charms.
5.  Using your earring making kit, make two of them into earrings.
6.  String the third charm onto a chain to make a necklace.

And that's it!  Now you can show off your beautiful homemade jewelry.
